About

Started as a weekend habit

It began with a DJI Mini and a habit of chasing sunsets over the Bow River on weekends. Somewhere along the way it turned into a small, one-person operation — same care with every flight, just without the overhead of a full studio.

That means straightforward pricing and a pilot who still gets genuinely excited about a good golden-hour flight, not just another job on the calendar.

Why Us

We looked at the Calgary market first

Before launching, we reviewed how local real estate photographers price and deliver drone work — and built the service around what's usually missing.

Typical Calgary operator

  • Drone is often a flat add-on to a photo package, not sized to the property or acreage
  • Bundled aerial + video packages can run $500–800 with no guaranteed turnaround
  • Big-studio overhead — office, staff, licensing tiers — gets built into the price you pay
  • Rush delivery usually adds a $50–150 surcharge on top of the quote

Magpie Aerial

  • Dedicated aerial packages built for the property size, not a generic add-on
  • Fixed price confirmed before the flight — no line-item surprises
  • Lean, one-person setup — lower overhead means lower prices, passed straight to you
  • 24–48 hour turnaround built into every package by default

★★★★★

"Our acreage never looked so good online. The drone caught the whole property line, not just the house."

Devon R. — Rocky View County
★★★★★

"The overhead shots of our outdoor ceremony were the ones every guest asked to see again."

FAQ

Good to know before booking

Do you need permission to fly over my property in Calgary?

Usually no. The aircraft is under 250g, which falls outside Transport Canada's RPAS pilot certification requirement. I still avoid restricted zones, fly within visual line of sight, and keep it low-key around people and pets.

What's your service area?

Calgary and the surrounding area — Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Chestermere and Rocky View County. Further out is possible, just ask.

Do you fly in winter or during a Chinook?

Yes — cold-weather flights are routine here. Only high-wind days get rescheduled, Chinook or otherwise.

How far ahead should I book?

1–3 days usually works fine. Sunset shoots and weekend weddings fill up faster, so those are worth booking earlier.
